Beer Camp Tasting 8/15


Sierra Beer Camp Tasting Saturday, August 15th Our friends Chris and Merideth from thebeergeek.com and Rick Sellers from DRAFT magazine and pacificbrewnews.com both had an opportunity to brew a small batch of specialty beer at “Beer Camp” hosted by Sierra Nevada. Come meet the brewers and try their creations during this very special tasting.

Brewers Specials

  • Abbey Extra (5.0%) - A Belgian inspired Abbey single ale. Light and refreshing with notes of clove and spice.
  • Brett Blond (5.0%) -A light Belgian blond ale that has undergone a secondary fermentation with Brettanomyces for an earthy, aromatic flavor contribution.
  • Brewhouse Black (5.4%) -A black lager brewed in the Schwarzbier style. Dark, mild roast balanced with a mellow bitterness.
  • English IPA (6.7%) - A maltier take on IPA with a spicy and earthy note from the use of English Hops. Brewed with Mike Mraz, 2008 Homebrewer of the Year.
  • Half Pint IPA (9.2%) - A huge hop bomb brewed with Centennial, Cascade and Columbus hops.
  • Hoptimism (8.0%): An India BLACK Ale. Dark as night but hopped like an IPA with Simcoe and Amarillo hops. Very bitter and very aromatic. Collaboration brew with Valley Brewing and Auburn Alehouse.
  • Oktoberfest (5.0%) - A mild amber colored lager that gets a dry toasted malt note from imported munich malts.

  • Red Horse Ale (6.2%): Nor Cal style dry hopped Red Ale. Rahr 2-Row, Crystal 70/80, Crystal 155/165, Carapils, Chocolate Malt, Amarillo, Summit & Centennial hops. 1.058 & 35 IBUs. *Bronze Medal 2008 World Beer Cup: American Amber/Red Category,
  • Sac Squatch Scotch Ale (7.0%): Scottish Style ale with peat smoked malt. Rahr 2-row, Caramalt, Crystal 70/80, Crystal 155/165, Munich Malt, Chocolate Malt, Roasted Barley, Black Barley, Peat Smoked Malt, Willamette Hops. 1.068 & 26 IBUs.
